Job Title: Software Test Analyst Department: Development General description of the role: The Software Tester reports to the Software Test Manager on a day to day basis and will work as part of a software development team throughout the project lifecycle, preparing test environments, test plans, setting up test data, writing of test scripts and performing tests .   Software Testing must be performed in accordance with SWD test standards and practices   KEY TASKS OF THE JOB Key Task 1: W riting test plans and test scripts Key Task 2:  Utilising test harnesses for validating data input and output Key Task 3: Setting up test environments as necessary Key Task 4: Devising performance, load and stress testing techniques Key task 5: P erforming software testing in accordance with SWD test standards and practices and the Test Manager’s instruction Key Task 6: C onducting interim release reviews and advising developers on the adequacy of unit test coverage Key Task 7: Actively collaborating with business analysts, solution architects, subject matter experts and developers to ensure design specifications are understood Key Task 8: Providing estimates to the Test Manager Key Task 9: Providing support for operations and customers as necessary             STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE ·         Demonstrates effective script writing as evidenced by feedback from test script reviews ·         Demonstrates effective software testing as evidenced by the number of defects found in test vs. the number of defects found in live ·         Demonstrates effective test planning as evidenced  by accurate test plans ·         Demonstrates effective communication within the team as evidenced by clear progress reports at daily meetings   SPECIFIC SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED ·         Minimum of 3 years manual software testing experience in a Microsoft environment with experience of working on bespoke systems ·         ISEB qualified to foundation level ·         Should have had exposure to the whole test lifecycle ·         Experienced test script and test plan writer ·         Knowledge of defect management, change control and release processes ·         Strong communication skills – written and verbal ·         Calmness under pressure ·         Must be able to act on own initiative and make recommendations for improvement. ·         Must be able to work individually and within a team environment. ·         Become SME – demonstrated by giving demos and mentoring other members of the team. ·         Acquire and transfer relevant knowledge across team members - demonstrate by acquiring broad product knowledge and conducting training sessions. ·         The ability to plan and prioritise your own work   ·         Knowledge of Visual Studio Team System ·         Knowledge of  VM Ware ·         Detailed Knowledge of SQL
