Software Engineer w/ Cloud Computing Palo Alto, CA Duration: 6/25 - 9/28/12 Location: Palo Alto, CA 94394 Staff Engineer, Cloud Computing As part of the hybrid cloud team, you will be leading the design and implementation of next generation cloud stacks. As a senior engineer on the team, you are expected to participate in the roadmap, technology stack, scalability, and performance of the distributed system. You need to have a good understanding of web application development and exposure to OpenStack/CloudStack technologies. Experience integrating with Dashboard on OpenStack using Python is an added plus. If you have developed cloud management platforms using JClouds/EC2 APIs, or worked with vCloud Director/Eucalyptus it is an added plus. Familiarity with vSphere is desired. This position also requires strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, and a good candidate is expected to contribute to the vision and direction of the product line, as well as able to produce good quality code for large components in a fast paced environment. Responsibilities Design and develop large-scale web-based cloud management software from inception to release Interact with product managers, and other development team members to translate loose requirements to completed stories and implement using Agile methodology Perform system- and component- level design across the product and own and deliver components Involve in leading and defining the sprints in a fast paced as-a-service release environment Lead an R&D team to implement, test (automation) and deploy web based applications for cloud infrastructure and management Requirements BS/MS in EE/CS with a minimum of 12+ years of development experience, with a couple of projects in the lead role Experience building large scale software systems from inception to release using Java/J2EE/Python required Strong engineering development process experience, preferably building a heavily used SaaS platform, or building system management and cloud management platforms and applications Experience developing commercially shipping products using Agile/Extreme development methodologies Highly driven and structured individual with strong sense of urgency and commitment to schedules Experience with vSphere, VI SDK a plus along with vCloud APIs. Experience with Hibernate (ORM), Quartz (Scheduler) and Fedora is a bonus Experience with OpenStack and Dashboard is preferred
