For over 10 years, aap3 has provided high quality resources and solutions to organizations such as Cisco, IBM, SAS, AT&T, and Vocalink You will be assisting a Field Engineer with getting details from the customer’s existing telecommunications network in preparation for a future upgrade to VoIP. This is a one to two day contract opportunity. A great way to earn extra income while between projects or while looking for permanent employment. Position Details: Assessing/documenting telecom rack layout. Photograph and document racks as well as individual components. Documentation will include models, MAC Addresses and serial #'s when possible. Assessment of any other secondary components. Assessment of Analog components. Team up with the lead Field Engineer (FE) to tag and tone necessary Analog components within the building. Assist lead FE with Voice Gateway installation . Assist lead FE with phone placement; document Cat 5 requirements and locations Requirements Experience with the structured cabling side (toning/tagging, analog phone systems). Experience with testing and/or toning Ethernet and analog cabling Tools required: Windows based laptop with MS Office, MS Excel required Inductive amplifier (Toner) Lineman's butt set Digital Camera String Marking Tags (For tagging analog lines) A label maker can be substituted for hang tags Flashlight Magnifying glass Crimping Tool RJ45 (8 pin) & RJ41 (4 pin) Spare RJ48 and RJ41 connectors (20 Qty each minimum) 66 & 110 Block Punch Tool Multi Bit screwdriver Wire Cutters Long nose pliers Multi-meter for testing continuity 2 piece Cat5/6 cable tester Transmitter & receiver Flashlight Safety Glasses US Citizenship Required
