Adecco Engineering and Technical, a division of the world leader in the recruitment of engineering and information technology professionals, has an immediate opening for an Cad Tech II on a --CONTRACT TYPE-- opportunity with a leading company in Wilmington, North Carolina General Description Mechanical / Drafting Technician PURPOSE OF POSITION A. Provide mechanical equipment designs and layouts which meet Corning Machine Drafting Standards on CAD based formats. (AutoCAD® 2012, Inventor 2012) B. Create and modify existing documentation to complete drawing packages, installation checklists, machine part lists, illustrations, and machine specs of production equipment. C. Purchase, expedite, receive, and organize off-the-shelf vendor parts as well as custom designed parts. D. Create or update machine specification documentation used by vendors, engineering, and plant operations. E. Assist engineers in the troubleshooting, process start-up, design, and documentation of Mechanical and Electrical Systems for new or modified production equipment. Required Skills/Experience MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Ongoing Tasks A. Re-design mechanical components to reduce installation cost, solve equipment interferences, and correct inadequate designs. B. Procure and expedite materials for new or modified equipment. C. Specify or recommend vendors, and maintain close liaison between vendor and plant. D. Update existing drawing packages to reflect redlines as required to resolve design issues. E. Prepare work orders or write purchase orders to cover labor charges and direct maintenance personnel and/or outside contract trades in the fabrication, assembly, testing, and installation of equipment. F. Review and update installation documentation and drawings as required. G. Assist in the development mechanical and electrical installation checklists and schedules. Project Tasks A. Create and provide installation drawing packages to meet project timelines. B. Complete documentation packages to meet customer requirements for plant submittal. C. Provide sketches or marked-up drawings as dictated by project and evolutionary equipment needs. D. Ensure updated documentation exists in assigned areas. E. Assist in the analysis and correction of equipment installation practices to improve efficiencies, specifically directed toward enhancing installation schedules. F. Provide inventory control for incoming and outgoing project parts and equipment. G. Provide training to maintenance and outside contract trades on new equipment installation procedures as required for successful execution of installation activities. H. Take personal responsibility for all aspects of supervising equipment installation crews for limited scope project activities.
