A 1st assistant director is required to work on a challenging and exciting film called The Journal of John Warrener, which I'm making for my MA final project (it's a student film). No experience is required as full training can be given but you do need to be on the ball and able to concentrate for long periods. Your duties would be to keep track of the shot list, carry out focus pulling and general on set organisation and assistance with light people management duties. It's a good chance to gain insights into film production, meet some great people and work on an ambitious period film. Set in York in 1933 the film follows John Warrener and his friend and mentor Charles Sedgewick as they unravel the complex mystery surrounding a mysterious cult. This cult is rumoured to be attempting to return to the waking world an ancient creature that dwells beneath a forgotten lake on the North Yorkshire Moors. A creature that once returned could spell the end of civilisation. After discovering the location of the cult John Warrener and Charles Sedgewick set out to try and find out if the rumours are true and if they are they intend to find out exactly what they are up against. The film is based on two of H. P. Lovecraft’s stories: The Case of Charles Dexter Ward and The Call of Cthulhu. The film is a non-profit short of approximately 30 minutes length. It will be shot in 1080P HD on a Canon 550D dSLR. Filming will take place in York and nearby locations. Unfortunately no payment can be offered for the work. But the film will be entered into a number of competitions, your name will appear in the credits and you will receive a copy of the film. Also food and refreshments are provided each day. We can only afford to pay traveling expenses if they are low. Preferably you would live in York or nearby. Filming dates are: 23-Jul 24-Jul 31-Jul 01-Aug 07-Aug 08-Aug 14-Aug 15-Aug 21-Aug 22-Aug 28-Aug * All filming is during the daytime.
