System Programmer Responsibilities include: Coordinates the installation of computer operating systems software and tests, maintains, and modifies software. Supervises the installation, maintenance, and utilization of software, utilities, and tools Evaluates and recommends software, program products, and utilities Evaluates and recommends computer hardware for effectiveness, compatibility, and ease of use Participates in a variety of moderately advanced, concurrent, and variable duration technical projects involving software and program products, hardware, and data communications Recommends and develops effective tools for productivity enhancement and customer ease of use of corporate computer systems Provides customer support for internal as well as external customers to provide problem resolution, product usage, technical education, or general technical consultation Utilizes tools and products available to consistently monitor the effective and efficient usage of corporate storage devices such as disk or tape Guarantees the integrity of corporate data resources and provides appropriate backup and security for corporate data Manages vendor resources when needs require vendor expertise Forecasts corporate capacity needs and configuration changes Identifies, documents, and adheres to CIS development standards and system software installation and maintenance standards System Programmer Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Computer Science with five to seven years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline. Knowledge of ArcGIS desktop tools and functionality, including ArcCatalog, ArcObjects, editing tools and analytic scripts ArcGIS, ArcFM and Oracle client software setups and general knowledge of GIS system architecture ArcFM environment, workflows, and understanding of interfacing to enterprise applications (Passport) Programming experience in Python, Perl or other scripting language, preferably related to GIS applications. Experience in working with Geodatabases and GIS data management Working knowledge of Oracle queries, SqlPlus or Oracle database administration; working knowledge of MS SqlServer a plus. Experience in Web or application development; development in Visual Studio a plus. Knowledge of Windows Server platform and general system administration Mastery of project planning and project management methods and procedures as required according to CIS or Company Policy and immediate supervisor Mastery of storage management policies and techniques Mastery knowledge of CIS administrative policies, Company policies and procedures, and CIS operational procedures In-depth knowledge of database system software, database application software, equipment compatibility issues, communication systems, operating system software and interfaces, assembler language, and PC usage In-depth knowledge of application analysis principles, system design, and application development tools being utilized by CIS development groups Ability to identify, document, and communicate system impacts possible due to proposed and implemented changes to system software, hardware, and database environments Ability to identify and evaluate CIS and customer system needs and select the appropriate software and hardware required Ability to develop effective customer training material for specific areas of primary responsibility Ability to effectively handle concurrent assignments Ability to make sound technical decisions that support the Company's goals and mission, CIS Business Plan, and CIS budget allocations Additional System Programmer Qualifications include: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Ability to write routine reports and correspondence Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations Manpower is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE/AA)
