Our client, located in Pleasanton, California, is seeking an Oracle DBA to perform the following duties: Perform database tuning and performance monitoring Provide suggestions to change database parameters to tune BI Report response times Provide recommendations on hardware capacity, to support growth and changes Qualifications: At least 5 years experience in tuning multi terabyte data warehouse environments. Excellent knowledge in tuning an OLAP system, to support both large data volume loads and reporting through BI tools. Ability to tune both Oracle and recommend operating system and hardware configuration changes for performance and tuning of the system. Minimum 5 yrs prior experience as an application and tuning DBA for DSS systems (NOT OLTP). Detailed technical knowledge on Dimensional Modeling and Star Schema design Experience with ETL tools( Informatica preferred) and BI tools (Cognos preferred) and how they work with Oracle as a Data Warehouse Database Certified Oracle Professional in Performance management on multi- terabyte Data Warehouse Extremely proficient in Oracle Architecture and concepts to support Data Warehouses (partitioning, Indexing, Parallelism, ASM, RMAN, Materialized Views, set based operations, DBMS_STAT) Able to make assessment of Hardware (RAM, I/O, CPU) according to work load and volume of data Tuning expertise in improving response time of BI reports for a user base of over 500 end users, with at least 50 concurrent end users, doing both Analytical and adhoc reporting Excellent communication skills with management, development teams, vendors and systems administrators Extremely proficient in documenting issues and providing recommendation
