Our client in the New Bedford, Massachusetts area is seeking an experienced Sales & Use Tax Accountant to join their team for a long term temporary assignment. The position is responsible for assisting with the day to day activities of the Company's sales/use tax compliance in a multi-state manufacturing environment. This includes ensuring compliance with sales and use tax laws, managing the preparation of sales and use tax returns for all jurisdictions, providing information to and resolving disputes with auditors from taxing jurisdictions. Responsibilities: Filing of all state sales/use tax returns; including return preparation, wire and check request creation, certified mail maintenance Assist with state sales/use tax audits Research and develop responses to audit issues as assigned Assist with initial M3/Vertex automation project as well as the ongoing maintenance of the system after go-live Analyze and import monthly tax files for all divisions into the Vertex application Review the reconciliation of sales/use tax general ledger accounts. This includes assisting Manager with the detailed a/p review Respond to Credit department inquiries for validation of resale/exempt certificates Respond to State sales/use tax notices Respond to customer/vendor tax related questions Assist with special projects and ad hoc requests The ideal candidate for this position will possess: The successful applicant will possess the following requirements (items are required unless noted otherwise): Bachelor's degree in Accounting Two to three years of tax experience in a Big 4 accounting firm or a large corporate tax department Proficient in spreadsheets, word-processing, and financial and tax oriented programs Good organizational skills Experience with Vertex is preferred, but not required
