PAYROLL SUPERVISOR
Motorcar Parts of America, Inc. (MPA), is recognized as one of the largest re manufacturers of starters and alternators for North America. We are a publicly traded company registered on NASDAQ and NYSEC under the symbol MPAA. We have a temporary position available for a Payroll Supervisor. This position is based at our corporate office in Torrance, California. JOB SUMMARY: Assists with all payroll activities while providing daily assistance to other departments by performing the following duties, personally or through subordinate team member(s). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned. Assists in the maintenance of Time & Attendance systems to include E-Time, and ADP software, and all hardware including “bio-metric” clocks. Maintains and audits daily wage and hour activity to include daily exception reports and manual time card entry. Prepares, audits, and transmits biweekly payroll data to payroll vendor for paycheck issuance. Follows SOX internal regulations. Updates individual employee records to include wage & salary; W-2 forms; direct deposits; vacation, sick, and holiday pay; and bonus programs. Assists in trouble-shooting all employee-related issues pertaining to wage & hour coordination. Sorts and distributes biweekly paychecks for proper delivery when the Payroll Administrator is unavailable. Safeguards, issues, and maintains Manual Check and its recordkeeping (Logs). Processes garnishments, levies, and other legal withholdings. Prepares and distributes reports and all external audit materials and external financial reporting to the Accounting department for labor allocation. Directs the maintenance of timekeeping, payroll, and other related procedures and controls. Other duties may be assigned. Education/Experience: At least 3 years of payroll management experience in manufacturing environment, preferably in a Public Company; SOX knowledge. Experience with ADP Payroll Systems:ADP PCPW, E-Time and ReportSmith A MUST (WorkForceNow and EZ Labor a Plus). Solid decision making abilities, attention to detail and accuracy; and ability to multi-task. Experience with Multi State and Federal employment law regulations. Ability to interact with all levels of employees in a professional manner. Professional level of written and oral communication. Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook); extensive knowledge of Payroll systems (ADP PCPW, WorkForceNow, ReportSmith) and Timekeeping systems (E-Time, EZ Labor). Language Ability: Ability to read, write, and speak English and Spanish. Ability to analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management.
