Java Developer / Performance Tester - Newcastle - 6 Month Contract We require a test-developer with non-functional (performance) testing experience to join a technical team based in Newcastle. The successful candidate will work alongside the project teams defining and executing the technical tests for example performance and load tests and analysing and feeding back the findings from the tests to the build teams. This includes highlighting potential performance and scalability hotspots in the design and specific areas of code. THIS ROLE REQUIRES SECURITY CLEARANCE: CANDIDATE MUST BE ELIGIBLE OR WILLING TO UNDERGO THIS Role Summary: * To develop Test Plan and Strategy for any Performance activity during code releases. * Support the programme delivery team with timely reports on the overall performance and stability of the current code. * Provide advice and guidance to build teams on performance issues. * Analyse performance data to identify potential issues. Main Responsibilities: * Review the System Requirements Specification documents and generate test scenarios. * Assist in configuring and managing test environments and preparation of test data for all performance test activities. * Develop test conditions to confirm system performance against agreed SLAs. * Carry out component level performance testing during development. * Generate performance results and compare against past outcomes to grade current release (performance characterisation and benchmarking). * Code profiling and system optimisation. * Component level performance testing during development. * Capacity modelling. Key Skills: * Experience in analysing the output from the automation at the code level * Developer with experience of performance testing, test automation and (Java) application development technologies, with the ability to understand code from monitoring tools which assess performance issues * Java, JBOSS, JRules, Welblogic Server * Knowledge in J2EE development and experience in Apache, JBoss, Tomcat, MySQL, Oracle * Web logic Portal Experience. Nice to have * Experience in analysing Java run-time behaviour * Use HP Quality Centre. * Worked with tools like Rational Robot, Clearquest, Load Runner, Quotium and JMeter * Infrastructure / network experience.
