Desktop Support - Windows 7 Upgrade
Job Title: Desktop Support (Windows 7 Upgrade) Location: Framingham, MA Duration: 3+ months Job Description: The process that the candidate will follow, at a high level, would be to get each person’s requirements, provide him/her with a temporary laptop, back-up the machine’s data, upgrade the desktop/laptop, migrate the data that was backed-up, and return the upgraded machine. The client envisions a table with many machines being upgraded simultaneously. Requirements: - Windows 7 upgrade and deployment experience (Primary requirement) - Experience using LANDesk, OSD and PXE Boot - Experience with USMT (User State Migration) – This tool is used to migrate user profiles. - Client uses “Data Defense”, so experience migrating to Windows 7 in an environment that uses this tool is a big plus. - Client uses an approach called “connected back-up”, so experience with this approach is a plus. - In their environment they also have uses that have ODBC connections between MS Access and Oracle or SQL databases. At the end of the migration to Windows 7 these connections would need to be re-linked. Experience doing this is also a big plus. - A candidate with flexible hours is required. The reason is that everyone’s machine needs to be upgraded to Windows 7, and some people can’t be without their machines for any significant duration. That means that this resource may be asked to work some weekend time and / or may be asked to work some odd shifts (i.e., 12:00 noon to 8pm or 9pm, or 5pm to 1am, for example. This is still to be determined. - The initial assignment is a minimum of 3 months. They need to get this finished by late this year, and it is likely that this person, if good, would get extended until approximately the end of the year.
