Job Description: Network Engineer This position is responsible for the administration and health of a variety of routers, switches, firewalls, appliances, applications, and other infrastructure components that form the companies LAN and WAN fabric. This position requires close work with the architects, customers, fellow engineers, and management to ensure system and communication fabric viability. Job Functions: · Installation, upgrade, and maintenance of equipment, associated cabling, and application software · Complex router, switch, and firewall configurations. · Coordination with appropriate staff to establish effective network monitoring and problem notifications · Development and maintenance of high-quality system documentation · Engaged use of ticketing and change control systems · Coordination with vendors and service providers in support of hardware, applications, and services · Troubleshooting of complex technical problems that cross-discipline boundaries · Close collaborative work with team members, customers, solution architects, and management to develop solutions, solve problems, and high system availability. Job Requirements: · Strong technical background in support of a medium-sized routed network · Professional demeanor and strong work ethic · Ability to work with management, team members, and customers to provide effective system support · Strong understanding of voice/data cabling infrastructure concepts, components, and best practices · Strong, effective troubleshooting skills · At least 5+ years’ experience in support of a large, diverse telecommunications network · Strong understanding of network administration and best practices · Must have a strong working knowledge of routing protocols to include BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP. · Must have a strong working knowledge of firewall technology and understand best practices in configuration of rules, policies, PAT/NAT, etc. · Experience with networking tools and applications, such as CiscoWorks, Solarwinds, TACACS knowledge is desired. · Ability to effectively support the multiple technologies and services that form the communications system · Knowledge of newspaper production processes and technologies a plus. Education Requirements: · Associates degree in a technical discipline and 5+ years’ experience in support of a diverse network. · CCNA with some CCNP working knowledge.
