Please be advised that effective August 1 3, 2012 , there are one or more auxiliary/on -call positions available for an Institutional Reporting Coordinator – Institutional Planning & Analysis . This position will be filled on an as required, on-call basis. JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the Director/Manager, the Institutional Reporting Coordinator, coordinates and oversees the reporting activities at IPA. The incumbent acts in a lead capacity to coordinate the accurate, reliable, timely and consistent reporting to fulfill IPA’s reporting commitments on behalf of the institution. He/She is required to determine and anticipate the institutional requirements to meet changing reporting needs. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Under the direction of the Director/Manager, develops database systems to meet departmental and institutional reporting needs 2. Coordinates, manages and maintains the Central Data Warehouse (CDW) and all related hardware and software to assure the continuous, secure and reliable submissions to the Ministry. 3. Under the direction of Director/Manager plans, develops, communicates and implements policies, procedures and guidelines for reporting 4. Coordinates all activities related to IPA reporting including compliance with requirements and automation of reporting processes 5. Under the direction of Director/Manager develops data modeling including, but not limited to, attrition/retention forecasting and enrolment forecasting. 6. Ensures that IPA’s reporting systems, hardware and operating software remain current by researching and evaluating developments and recommending changes where necessary. 7. Plans, designs and conducts research projects and reports results with descriptive and inferential statistics and makes recommendations with regards to follow up research. 8. Monitors and maintains specialized databases; develops procedures for the efficient use of departmental systems. 9. Ensures the technical integrity, consistency and reliability of the databases by establishing data quality checks and procedures and taking corrective actions by coordinating solutions with other areas (such as the Registrar’s Office and ITS). MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Cont’d) 10. Audits the content of reports for technical integrity, currency, consistency and conformity to mandated standards and guidelines and works collaboratively with others to resolve any problems. 11. Administers and maintains IPA staff access to databases, reporting systems and tools. 12. Provides support and advice to instructional and administrative units in preparing and/or interpreting information. 13. Regularly engage in problem solving in both a technical and non-technical sense at various levels of the university. 14. Responds to a variety of internal data and information needs. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: · Undergraduate university degree in an appropriate analytical discipline, with specialized courses in statistics, research methodology or equivalent Experience: · Three (3) years related experience, including two (2) years of experience designing and maintaining databases, conducting research and reporting. Related experience includes: data validation, project management, process analysis, redesign and implementation, gathering, synthesizing, evaluating, interpreting information and producing reports SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITIES RELATED TO THE JOB · Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access in a windows environment and statistical software such as SPSS · Demonstrated knowledge of RDMS such as Oracle and Microsoft Database solutions · Demonstrated knowledge of development languages such as JSP, PL/SQL, PHP, HTML and JavaScript · Demonstrated experience supporting ERP systems implementation · Knowledge of student information systems (ie) Banner · Ability to maintain and develop new applications using relational databases · Ability to work with data dictionaries and use computer applications to manipulate data and produce statistical reports and analyses · Knowledge of and experience using business intelligence tools and metrics reporting methods (e.g. Cognos, Crystal Reports, Tableau) · Demonstrated documentation skills · Effective research, analytical, problem-solving and planning skills · Ability to communicate effectively to a culturally diverse audience, both verbally and in writing, including strong interviewing, listening and interpreting skills · Ability to plan, organize and prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, maintaining accuracy and acute attention to detail · Ability to be persuasive in dealing with others · Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITIES RELATED TO THE JOB · Effective writing and presentation skills and the ability to convey technical and statistical information to a non-technical audience · Knowledge of provincial post secondary reporting and accountability systems WORKING CONDITIONS · Sitting at desk and computer for long periods of time; general office conditions The salary for the above position is determined by the Collective Agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 4879 , as it presently exists. The rate for this position at 100% is $23.83 : at 90%, the rate is $21.45 per hour.
