Process Lead Surveyor / Waste-Water Engineer
Contract Type: Temporary Fixed Term (12 months) PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES *Identify non-infrastructure water assets, align existing assets to bespoke register and undertake condition assessments. *Capture of non-infrastructure asset data and inventory utilising alpha-numeric descriptions. *Asset performance assessments / condition grading. *Report preparation / drawings / process flow diagrams. *Scheduling of work and liaison. *Develop and maintain good client relationships. *Provide guidance to fellow team members and technical staff working on the same projects. *Attend and contribute to project meetings internally. *Undertake continuing professional development under guidance of project team. *Operate in accordance with health and safety, environmental and quality standards PERSON SPECIFICATION Qualifications: Previous post qualification (NVQ level 3 or above) experience working in water or wastewater process design or analysis. This could be in a design office, for a water / sewage company or engineering consultant carrying out performance analysis as part of appraisals or to develop operational control regimes. Knowledge /Experience: Must have solid understanding of the typical water/wastewater treatment processes operated by NI Water. Including; RBC, percolating filter, activated sludge, SBR, MBR, oxidation tanks. Experience and / or knowledge of water and wastewater treatment/distribution. Technical /Business Skills /Ability Mandatory *Full UK Driving Licence. *Must have a solid understanding of how each of the key elements within water and wastewater treatment processes are designed and sized, such as RAS/SAS pumping stations, primary settlement tanks (PSTs), final settlement tanks (FSTs), aeration lanes and anoxic zones, sludge thickening and dewatering processes. This information will be used to ensure that the correct information is collected to allow process calculations at a later stage. *Must be able to read and develop process flow diagrams and carry out basic process calculations to determine / verity capacity ratings. *Sound understanding of the functionality of equipment such as pumps and pumpsets, gearboxes, drive-shafts, impellers, drive-belts, bearings, seals, compressors and package plant used within the water and wastewater industry. *Sound process design and engineering knowledge. *IT literacy. *Ability to interpret Process and Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID) and other technical drawings. *Knowledge of engineering regulations and health and safety requirements relating to the water and wastewater industry. *Ability to work under own initiative on technical matters and manage their own time. Desirable *Trained in Confined Spaces *Be certified as competent in the use of breathing apparatus. *Ability to lift submersible pumps. *Willingness to mentor, support and develop other staff. *Demonstration of flexibility in working approach
