Located in Winston Salem, North Carolina, the Computer Operator will have the following duties: Assists in monitoring and controlling the computer Assists in the operation of computer and peripheral equipment Competent in several phases of operation, requiring direct instruction and guidance for other phases Assists in carrying out various duties associated with operation of mainframe and peripheral equipment including record keeping regarding output units, stores, and supplies May occasionally assist more junior operators Provide 24x7x365 Multidivisional monitoring of critical system & applications Provide support/troubleshooting for Intel, UNIX, and Network environments where appropriate Provides break / fix support, maintenance and monitoring of the enterprise net Shift is: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Saturday. Hours are 8:15am - 8:45pm EST. Specific Qualifications (required unless noted otherwise): Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and 0 - 2 years experience in computer operations, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience Competent to work on several phases of computer operations with only general direction A self motivated individual that can multitask and adapt to a dynamic work environment Strong customer focus and average skills in multiple environments Strong troubleshooting and hands on skills In-depth knowledge of major Windows subsystems and administration tools Experience supporting Intel server technologies, including Windows NT & 2000, 2003 & OS/2 Working knowledge of Intel server hardware configurations Familiar with all major server components (BIOS, RAID/disk subsystems, NIC, etc.) Able to physically change out hard drives, rebuild machines, swap memory, etc. Excellent troubleshooting techniques Ability to clearly document issues and resolution steps Working knowledge of Intel Hardware, Citrix & VMware hosting, and UNIX/AIX/HP Minimum of 2 years experience with monitoring tools (HP OpenView, ethereal, wireshark, NETQos, OpNet, VoIP, and NAC) Minimum of 2 years with network protocols (hsrp, arp, dns, dhcp, vtp, vmps, eigrp, bgp, vrrp, and hsrp) dynamic VLANs
