Our client is currently seeking a Senior Java Engineer. As Principal SW engineer, responsibilities include leadership on cross functional project teams, ensuring team meets schedule and budget commitments and ensuring successful deployment and supportability of assigned project. As a senior member of the Central System Engineering Team, the engineer filling this requisition will have the following responsibilities: Enterprise and web design and implementation of our fare collection and financial management back office for mass transit and other transportation markets Enterprise and web programming tasks using Java, Java EE, JavaScript, XML, DHTML, web app frameworks and related technologies such as Spring, JSF, Hibernate and secure coding best practices Perform problem analysis, solution determination and associated task estimation for specific customer requirements Collaborate on design and code reviews, and follow all designated standards and development guidelines Work productively and with minimal management supervision, both as part of a team as well as independently Consistently deliver on work and schedule commitments Participate in full project lifecycle including estimating, design, implementation, testing, customer acceptance, deployment and backline customer support Works independently and acts as technical consultant or project leader on complex software engineering assignments Provides technical guidance and leadership Provides project coordination and supervision Coordinates activities for proposals/new business This position typically works under limited supervision and direction Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority Senior Java Engineer Qualifications: Four-year college degree in computer science, electronic engineering or other related technical discipline plus a minimum of eight years of related experience or a master's degree with six years of related experience Experience to include software development/engineering, providing technical direction and leadership to software engineering projects and team members Ability to interpret technical contract requirements Requires proficiency using programming languages such as, Java, J2EE, DHTML, JAVAScript, and C# May require ability to develop software in a Unix, Windows Server 2003/2008/Vista/XP/Windows 7, Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) or other PC environment May require experience with embedded processing Ability to use PC software such as Microsoft Word/Project/Visio, database, spreadsheet and flowchart, and computer aided software engineering (CASE) tools Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, interface with customers, subcontractors and vendors Must be able to solve complex and difficult engineering problems Knowledge of customer needs and competing products desirable
