SQL Server Architect/Database Administrator . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Our client is currently seeking an Architect/Database Administrator IIII. Main Duties: Act as point of contact and SQL Server technical resource for application/business partners Run diagnostic tools to identify database performance bottlenecks, and take appropriate corrective actions to improve database performance. Work with development teams to tune SQL queries Troubleshoot SQL Server performance and non-performance related issues either independently or in conjunction with other DBAs Provide solutions to development teams when proposed solutions do not comply with architectural, configuration, performance, or security guidelines Manage backup/recovery for SQL Server instances Management of database and resource capacity planning Implement and enforce database security based upon best practice, SOX regulations, and company policies Installation of new SQL Server instances and upgrades Provide support on all stages of database implementation and/or database related deployments Provide recommendations for process improvements Participate in project meetings, as necessary, to understand application and database requirements Willingness to learn the business and new technology Provide after hours support as required Experience and Skills Required: 10+ years experience with SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008 R1, and 2008 R2 Experience with SQL Server High Availability technologies Experience with HP PolyServe a strong plus Experience with SQL Server 2008 a plus Prefer BSCS or MIS related degree MCDBA and/or MCITP: Database Administration certifications a plus Experience in managing Windows 2000 / 2003 Servers Experience with Windows 2008 Server a plus Experience with DTS, SSIS, and/or other ETL applications Familiarity with SSRS Familiarity with data/database encryption technologies (data at rest, data in memory, and data in transit) Experience with Oracle a plus Familiarity with SUN, Linux, and/or HPUX Operating Systems is a plus General Skills: Excellent documentation and communication skills Strong organization and time management skills Team-oriented work ethic that includes willingness to help others Able to work independently and share results of assigned projects with team members
