Title: CA Capacity Planner Duration: Direct Hire or Contract to Hire Location: Vienna, Va Required: MUST have CA Capacity Manager or Hyperformix Job Description: To analyze current computing infrastructure utilization and demand. To provide input to the definition of Service Level Agreements (SLAs), hardware and application monitoring requirements and tools and maintain comprehensive, repository for performance, utilization and resource demand data. Develop tactical and strategic plans to ensure optimum capacity of IT computing resources. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Determines capacity needs/requirements by defining, collecting, and maintaining performance and utilization data. Define data elements required for each computing environment, application and business process (including CPU, memory, disk utilization, memory, network activity) Define and collects systems generated performance and utilization data for all components associated with the computing platforms (internal and external systems) and applications (including Windows, AIX, Unix, z/OS,VMWare) that comprise the IT infrastructure Maintains the database(s) and tools used to store and analyze the performance and utilization data collected Function as a central source for reporting upon performance and utilization; provide the data of record for performance analysis, reporting, and capacity planning 2. Analyzes and evaluates systems performance and demand for resources. Develop reporting processes for IT system performance and capacity needs, business demand, and processes that will forecast future growth and its impact on IT capacity Perform complex analysis and reports on performance of the IT infrastructure, business applications and processes, and resource utilization trends Define relationships between performance data and business processes, and the corresponding Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Establishes the criteria to define acceptable and unacceptable performance and utilization levels 3. Ensures infrastructure capacity is matched to current and future needs as forecasted through business initiatives and historical utilization. Develop tactical and strategic plans to optimize capacity Work with operational and support staff to understand current configurations and determine optimum configurations Use modeling tools for conducting what-if capacity and performance needs assessments/predictions 4. QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Target: Bachelors Degree in a related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training or experience Extensive IT experience, preferably in application/systems analysis, workflow or procedural analysis Experience in infrastructure and application configuration Strong planning, organizational, critical thinking, and multi-tasking skills Strong research, analytical, and problem solving skills Highly developed communication skills including preparing and presenting results, findings, and alternatives Demonstrated skill in exercising initiative and good judgment, and making sound decisions Ability to interface with all levels of employees, management and vendors Ability to exercise initiative, produce desired results and achieve objectives Desired: College degree in information technology, computer science, engineering or related field Experience using MICS, MKG or similar software tools used in performance analysis and capacity planning ITIL Certification Knowledge of Navy Federal operations Ability to use SQL for data analysis (Position could be considered for remote location)
