Description: SUMMARY Working from engineering design documents, prototypes, and/or change orders, prepares labor and cost estimates and determines equipment, tooling, materials, methods of manufacture and facilities required to produce a particular product in scheduled quantities and at the lowest cost consistent with quality specifications by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Must have Technical experience with Advanced Sheet Metal Manufacturing Operations * Must have experience in Manual Machining Processes o Metal Forming o Laser Welding (5-Axis Robotic Arm) o Hydro Forming - Deep Draw * Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness. * Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions. * Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. * Conducts research and or development projects associated with the design and development of new products and services. * Prepares project plans and manages resources to ensure compliance to customer needs * Determines the most cost-effective integrated fabrication and inspection method to meet customer requirements. * Responsible for quality liaison with customers; has specific knowledge of all customer quality requirements and specifications and is ultimately responsible for delivered quality of assigned products. * Prepares customer documentation and specifications and ensures manufacturing plans reflect requirements. * Prepares shop operation sketches, weld instruction sheets, tool orders and maintains production planning. * Resolves implementation and process problems and responds quickly to liaison requests related to manufacturing. * Is proficient in CAD/CAM for purposes of design, needed tooling and sketches. * Provides technical assistance to shop inspection; performs MRB dispositions and conducts investigative assistance to shop inspection and to solve quality and process problems. * Supports manual CNC machining activities and cost reduction. * Maintains close working relationships with all departments and individuals involved on assigned projects, and coordinates with customer representatives as necessary. * Monitors cell metrics and is accountable for, but not limited to, gross margin, scrap, rework, 5S, and continuous improvement of lean manufacturing cells. * Manages employee utilization and cross training within and between cells. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering from four-year college or university; or seven (7) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a manufacturing environment specializing in sheet metal or mechanical job shop. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
