MS SCOM Administrator . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
The ideal candidate will have in-depth experience with the administration of the MS SCOM monitoring tool. Additional experience in one or more of the following desired: Foglight NMS, Foglight Transaction Recorder Advanced, Foglight for Java/.NET, Foglight for SQL/Oracle, Foglight OS Management, Tealeaf, xMatters and Solarwinds Orion. The successful candidate must be able to work well with Windows systems engineers, application developers, internal and external support teams, both offshore and internal, to determine requirements for filters, events, alerts, and dashboards and reporting in various monitoring tools. Primary Tasks: Responsible for managing and maintaining the enterprise SCOM platform Perform administrative tasks from the Operation Manager console Provide application support for SCOM platform Create and maintain monitoring and notification rules Review/update SCOM console security Create SCOM console roles and views Deliver SCOM views via Remote Desktop Web Access Upgrade, apply patches to SCOM console, agents and backend components Provide problem resolution/troubleshooting for SCOM components and related custom scripts/automations Create and install custom Management Packs (MP) as needed Create custom reports on results of SCOM monitoring, using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) technologies Maintain integration with Foglight as the Manager of Managers and xMatters as the enterprise notification system Maintain accurate systems documentation Secondary Tasks: Assist with the migration of Operation Manager 2007 to Operation Manager 2012 Act as backup administrator for Foglight, Solarwinds Orion, xMatters and/or Tealeaf Provide project management support as required Required Skills: Experience with the installation and administration of Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 Experience with System Center Configuration Manager is a plus Possess initiative to identify and propose potential system and process improvements Knowledge of HTTP, HTTPS, TCP/IP, SMTP, DNS, SSH, TELNET, SNMP, FTP Knowledge of Web Based Applications Experience in application/network performance monitoring and availability Ability to recognize potential problem areas and provides advice and direction on the use of technology tools and problem solving processes Ability to multi-task and prioritize Effective verbal and written communication skills Excellent customer service skills Ability to work well with offshore support teams as well as internal support teams Knowledge of LAN/WAN topologies Knowledge of shell scripting Excellent troubleshooting skills Self starter, motivated, organized, detail oriented Minimum Qualifications: Previous experience with the installation and administration of Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 5 or more years IT infrastructure administration experience Superior technical competence and demonstrated project leadership Experience administering heterogeneous server environments Experience monitoring e-commerce web sites Preferred Qualifications: Experience configuring web servers such as IIS, Apache, or Tomcat Experience with System Center Configuration Manager Shell scripting experience, both under MS Windows and common Unix-like shells such as bash and csh
