TEKsystems is in need of a DB2 z/OS DBA. This opportunity can be a straight contract or a contract to hire. Job Description: Looking for a strong technical Database Administrator (DBA) to design, implement and support database structures within the mainframe DB2 z/OS environment. Provide assistance and support for database design, architecture, performance, standards, availability, system integrity and accessibility. With minimal direction from higher level staff, support the application teams throughout a project. Work with the business and application developers to define elements and data base objects. Administer the Database structures within the development, test and production database environment. Administer DB2 z/OS utilities to support and maintain databases. Develop and administer standards for the support of data, databases. Interface with other members of the Database Management staff to provide support for database management projects throughout the project life cycle. Implement database access security. Monitor implementation adherence to application security requirements. Evaluate and review DB2 z/OS software enhancements. Perform database performance analysis of the DB2 z/OS software. Provide support for business systems to maintain the availability and integrity of database during and outside of normal working hours. Review and optimize application SQL code and complete other duties as assigned. Develop and administer standards for the support of data, plan, implement and maintain recovery procedures and emergency disaster recovery plans. Recover affected databases and coordinates the recovery processes with technical support and operations staff. Ensure compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with the client or regulatory standards and policies. Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the client's brand. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field Minimum of five years DBA experience preferably on DB2 z./OS v9.
