General Purpose Participate in cross-functional projects to develop and enhance new and existing applications to improve and expand Client technological capabilities. Direct involvement with the development life-cycle, including planning, designing, and test-driven development. Contribute to the overall effectiveness of software design and development for Client's growing product portfolio. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to): · Analysis, design, coding and implementation of large-scale OO applications · Prepare high quality documentation pertaining to business and technical requirements, design documents including writing test cases and following formalized testing processes · Provide development leadership andvalue-add recommendations towards design, development, and all aspects of application development life-cycle, utilizing and maintaining appropriate change control procedures and standards · Work on a team of in-house and external contractors to implement strategic enhancements to the application and interfaces across systems · Partners with business owner's project management office and participates in all phases of project implementation · Lead and mentor junior developers, for the department and as needed · Assist business units in understanding role of technology solutions in support of business objectives · Work within an agile development environment, including Extreme Programming (XP), Scrum and iterative development. · Apply knowledge of software best practices like test driven development (TDD) and continuous integration Skills: · Thorough understanding of software development processes and criticality of various kinds of software testing-unit, smoke, system, integration etc. · Understanding of code manipulation and optimization issues · Working with relational databases such as Oracle and SQL Server Knowledge of Application Development/Software engineering of N-tier architecture in a Microsoft .NET framework o .NET 2.0, 3.5 Framework (C#, ASP.NET, ADO.NET) o .NET Presentation frameworks like Infragistics (3.5) & Telerik o .NET LINQ o SSIS, MSRS, MOSS 2007, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, MS SharePoint experience o IIS o Microsoft Visual Studio o Visual Source Safe o Team Foundation Server (usage & administration) o Agile and Scrum software development methodology o SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008 o Web Services development o Development in an SOA environment o Fluency in UML design o Fluency in interpreting systems architecture and use cases o HTML, XML, AJAX o Testing with nUnit or similar test scripting tools o Automated build processes o Knowledge of Sitecore CMS is a plus, but not a requirement o Knowledge of Dynamics CRM is a plus, but not a requirement o Knowledge of Telligent's Community Server as a social media platform is a plus, but not a requirement · Strong communication skills, capable of interacting with all levels of IT and business management and skilled at summarizing and communicating complex technical concepts/strategies · Commitment of accountability and responsibility for end product. · Ability to interpret abstract technical ideas and concepts effectively · Demonstrated customer service focus and ability to establish and maintain a high level of user trust and confidence. · Solution orientated approach with strong problem solving skills and an understanding of Web-enabled applications, ability to provide optimal solutions to complex problems · Self-motivated and able to work cohesively within a team environment, and work on multiple, concurrent project initiatives · Ability to work within an environment of frequently changing priorities and as an integral part of a team · Ability to work flexible and/or extended hours as needed and willingness to travel Education / Training: · Four year college degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics or Information Technology; advanced degrees or thesis preferred · Minimum 8 years experience in application architecture or in software engineering/application development of N-tier architecture in a Microsoft .NET framework or equivalent · Minimum 4 years experience in Web 2.0 technology build using ASP.NET, applying to product plans as well as day-to-day communications or equivalent · Experience in application development using object-oriented design patterns with expert level in C#. · Microsoft or product specific accreditations are a plus
