Assignment: Candidate will implement a web application back end and front end in a modern framework, such as Ruby on Rails, that is used to process large volumes of sensor data on a Linux cluster environment. Experience with creating and maintaining a SQL database, forming SQL queries, and implementing processing logic in at least one of the aforementioned web app frameworks is essential. Experience building intuitive, user-friendly interfaces in HTML and CSS is also necessary. Experience with geospatial databases, such as PostGIS, and APIs such as Web Map Service (WMS), and map toolkits, such as OpenLayers or Google Maps API, is highly desired. Familiarity with REST design principals is also recommended. The candidate must be able to work self-sufficiently on a small team of developers, and be willing to proactively communicate ideas, issues, and accomplishments to the team.
