Senior UNIX/LINUX Engineer
Seeking a Unix/Linux Engineer for an immediately opportunity in Scottsdale/Phoenix, AZ! Must be skilled with SUSE or RHEL. Please email Brienna.Bartels@modis.com for immediate consideration! Responsibilities: • Plans and designs computer system implementation involving computer hardware, operating systems and databases • Develops, manages and evaluates project plans (e.g., server • implementations, upgrades, capacity plans, system testing, advanced problem resolution) • Provides input for assigned budget and system life cycle planning • Coordination with the DBA group to install the Oracle database on Linux platforms • Create and maintain technical documentation, configuration specifications, processes and checklists • Standardization and automation of manual processes • Determine computer resource constraints and propose feasible solutions • Provide guidance to PC technicians regarding imaging of thin clients, configuration of laptops, integration with peripherals, and validate their deliverables • Customer Service focus with a good understanding of the end user • Attend calls and provide quick service to customers in set up and troubleshooting of systems • Self starter and critical thinking skills • Good writing and verbal communication skills Technical • Responsible for installation of servers, configuration of servers, setup/maintenance of user accounts, data recovery • Troubleshooting and installation of SUSE Linux Enterprise server, WebLogic, JVM, Tomcat, Apache • Experience with Oracle 11gR2 • Experience with Oracle RAC a plus • Write boot time startup and shutdown scripts • Update project documentation • Evaluate and recommend new hardware and software • Resolution of server and client hardware, software and system issues • Analyze system performance and ensure the performance objectives are met • Ensure compatibility of the hardware and software of the system and applications • Troubleshooting, configuration and installation of Linux on laptops. • Encrypted file system troubleshooting/configuration • Good exposure to HTTP, FTP, DNS, DHCP and TCP/IP-based services REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge/Education 1. Bachelor,'(tm)s degree preferred. 2. Knowledge of computer server platforms and relevant operating systems required. 3. Knowledge of project planning and capacity planning required. 4. Knowledge of disaster recovery processes and procedures required. Licenses/Certifications 1. Unix OS certification preferred. 2. Linux OS certification preferred. Experience 1. With completion of at least one of the certifications listed under Licenses/Certifications: Five years of experience in the design, implementation and management of business critical computer systems required. Or Without completion of at least one of the certifications listed under Licenses/Certifications: Ten years of experience in the design, implementation and management of business critical computer systems required. 2. Progressively responsible experience managing complex projects. Skills/Abilities 1. Good communication and customer relation skills. 2. Must be self-motivated with good organizational skills. 3.
