Works with an experienced team of transaction tax professionals: primarily responsible for handling state and local transaction tax audits, but also involved with other transaction tax areas to: ensure compliance with state and local tax rules and regulations and related companies; ensure client is properly registered and filing transaction taxes in all jurisdictions where required, and; assist with tax research and provide input for the maintenance automated sales and use tax software; ensure proper controls are in place and are implemented. Essential Functions o Assists with state and local sales & use, excise tax audits and refund claim responsibilities as assigned o Assists with gathering and reviewing documentation, researching tax issues, preparing and reviewing audit schedules o Assists with drafting and filing tax protests as assigned o Assists with preparing for settlement negotiations with state and local taxing authorities o Researches taxability questions and ongoing transaction tax issues and provide guidance as assigned o Provides input for the maintenance of sales and use tax configurations in Sabrix o Keeps currently informed on tax law changes, court decisions, tax regulations and Company-initiated developments o Assists with the development, analysis, and implementation of state and local tax reduction and deferral strategies Qualifications Bachelors degree Minimum 1 3 years experience in transaction tax administration Familiarity with multi-jurisdiction tax laws and regulations Understanding of multi-entity environment and reporting requirements Ability to manage audit data, including reconciling, managing and preparing large amounts of complex data for use in sales and use tax audits Previous experience in manufacturing industry desirable Possess analytical skills necessary to monitor tax law changes and determine impact to the company and to interpret legal documents Ability to research and defend tax positions and effectively communicate Possess great communication skills and ability to work well with a team environment Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Access), RIA & Internet literate; SAP & Sabrix experience desirable
