Sr. Network Engineer / Architect
Sr. Network Engineer / IT Architect Position Summary: Works directly with customers, vendors, and Strategic Partners to identify, troubleshoot, resolve data networking related issues and/or design network solutions. Education/Experience: Bachelor degree in computer science or a related field required. Skills and Competencies: Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and manage one’s time Producing a blueprint for a complex, large-scale Gathering business requirements and objectives Knowledge of WAN Acceleration technology, VOIP, network security technology, and Advanced DNS technology Knowledge of computer software, such as configuration management software, desktop communications software, operating system software and internet directory services software Responsibilities: Monitor LAN/WAN connectivity to ensure that all users have the required LAN/WAN connections. Troubleshoot and resolve LAN/WAN connectivity issues as they arise in and Ethernet and Token Ring environment. Analyze technical needs, requirements, and state of the network’s infrastructure design, integration, and operations.. Participate in selection of networking technologies and products for implementation Ability to architect network technologies in a decentralized multinational environment. Continually update understanding of business and technology status and objectives and respond to strategic design requests as the business evolves. Monitor telecommunications performance with partners and make configuration changes to hubs, routers, switches, etc., as necessary to ensure that maximum network performance is maintained. Manage server disk space, memory, caching, and other performance metrics to ensure that all servers are operating at peak efficiency. Work with client groups to ensure that end users have all required equipment properly installed and configured based on specific project requirements. Monitor print servers and troubleshoot and resolve all network printing issues. Evaluate and recommend new or upgraded products to enhance the performance of the LAN/ WAN. This person will be a member of a team working on resolving technical issues, completing technical analysis and design. Initially focus will be in the areas of LAR, DTP, Citrix and CWRA. As DTP progresses, the position will shift to focus on emerging technologies for the WMA branches. This person will work closely with GTIS and will take direction from the team lead as well as the team project manager.
