Early Childhood Director
A nonprofit community center lacated in Canarsie, Brooklyn, serves a diverse population and seeks a qualified Early Childhood Director. The Early Childhood Director is responsible for five classrooms and approximately 80 children ages 2.5 to 5 years old. The H.E.S. serves moderate to low income families and operates childcare, UPK, and in October of 2012 a new Acs Early Learn Program. These vibrant programs provide preschoolersand whole families with a variety of educational and social services. The position reports directly to H.E.S.'S Assistant Executive Director. To provide leadership and supervision across all areas of the Early Childhood programs. Directly supervise staff – education, social service, support, etc. Providing professional leadership through the following: supporting teachers with lesson plans and curriculum implementation, holding case conferences with social service staff, scheduling in-service training, providing staff development workshops and holding parent meetings. To plan and provide comprehensive training for parents and staff on the purpose, goals, and culture of Early Childhood programming (UPK & ACS EarlyLearn, etc.) – workshops, staff and parent orientations, etc. To coordinate and submit a variety of required reports including staff evaluations, UPK, EarlyLearn and food program. To work with the parents to provide high-quality programming that best meets families’ needs and interests. To serve as a liaison among the various government agencies and parent/community groups etc. To provide administrative oversight – review files, monitor tracking tools, develop efficient policies and procedures. To assist in planning recruitment strategies and orchestrate PR opportunities for the program. To assist staff in the coordination of projects for parents, encouraging the involvement of parents in policy decisions. To meet regularly with staff and parents. To serve as a positive partner with Center staff. To work closely with the social services coordinator, special needs director, consultants, as well as Special Needs therapists and providers. Requirements: Master’s Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education New York State Teaching certificate (preschool, nursery) 2 to 5 years of early childhood teaching experience & 2 to-5 years of supervisory experience Commitment to Early Childhood Education and proven ability to collaborate and motivate Sense of humor Exellent Benefits* Salary based on Experience* Keywords: Education
