Environmental Specialist / Coordinator - Williamstown
6 Month contract with views for extension Large Environmental Team Williamstown Based We are currently recruiting for an experienced Environmental Coordinator / Specialist for a 6 month contract role to start immediately! Our client is a large multinational heavy manufacturing and services organisation with a diverse range of assets based though out Australia. They have a strong commitment to safety and environment and with an influx of work and expansion of facilities they are looking for an Environmental specialty to bolster their team for the coming 6 months. You will be part of a large and experienced environmental team helping to actively promote environmental policies on site and ensure that compliance is met with current environmental legislation. This company has a great environmental team and due to the nature of the industry sector, this position will provide you with a number of challenges and the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a strong performing sector. The key responsibilities for this role will be to ensure the following; Interpreting and communicating government and corporate environmental requirements for hands-on implementation across the site. Collecting, analysing and communicating site related environmental data required for reporting to government or company purposes. Meeting periodical environmental reporting requirements and reporting deadlines defined by government e.g. DEC License reporting Overseeing the development and implementation of action plans to address environmental issues at the site. Keeping staff and management informed of relevant environmental legal requirements, company requirements and relevant policies, standards and codes of practice that relate to site operations. Maintaining documentation and records in accordance with company requirements Conducting routine inspections of the site’s operations and ensure the site is operating in accordance with the relevant regulatory requirements and site permits. Facilitating with relevant site personnel to meet environmental resources reduction targets. Providing assistance in the management of hazardous substances and dangerous goods. Providing environmental awareness training for relevant site employees and contractors. The successful candidate will have previous Environmental Management experience, preferably within construction or industrial services industries, as well as a Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or Engineering. An Environmental degree or qualifications At least 2 - 3 years experience in an Environmental position Experience in implementing an environmental management system to ISO 14001 standard Have excellent communication skills both written and verbal The ability to handle multiple tasks in set time frames Experience in an environmental consulting role would be highly looked upon Due to the length of the contract, the ability to start almost immediately would be highly regarded.
