Kforce is seeking a DB2 Database Administrator for a Lanham / New Carrolton, Maryland client. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Monitoring performance and managing parameters to provide fast query responses to front-end users Handling incident (problem) tickets during regular hours, and ?off hours? when on call Considering back-end organization of data and front-end accessibility for end-users Installing DB2 object changes via our ?in house? Database Service Request process Working with data architects, and project teams to help with database design Helping with installation and testing for new versions of the DBMS Creating and installing DB maintenance utility jobs for newly created DB objects Maintaining data standards, security standards, database design standards Controlling special (non-table level) access permissions and privileges Developing, managing and testing back-up and recovery plans Ensuring that storage, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures are functioning correctly Working closely with IT project managers, application developers and application support teams Communicating regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security Providing support for all internal customers Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field 6 years of Mainframe DB2 DBA experience (Version 8) Proficient in the use of DB2 Utilities: Load, Reorganization, Copy, and Recovery Proficient in running statistics, binding plans / packages and DB partitioning Strong knowledge of how to read/tune SQL Experience with CA DB2 tools Experience with OMEGAMON for DB2 IBM Mainframe: TSO and JCL GoldenGate / WebSphere Replication Distributed access to DB2 using DB2 Connect A DBA with a development / programming background is desired Experience with Oracle will be a plus Possess the ability to independently research problems and provide solutions Excellent verbal and written communication skills Applicants must be fully authorized to work in the U.S. Green Cards will be accepted.
