Mechanical Design Engineer - Pro/E, Finite Element Analysis
Volt has an opening with our Client, a Global Manufacturer of Electronics and Semiconductors in Santa Clara, CA for an Mechanical Engineer. This project is to provide Thermal Tool Designs for temperature margining of processors, chipsets, and ASICs used in the validation of the client's silicon. The project entails designing mechanical and retention aspects of the temperature margining tools, providing detailed drawings of the mechanical designs for prototyping and manufacturing. The end result of the design will be manufactured and deployed to validation labs within client. Daily Responsibilities: Designing mechanical components/systems for CPU, PCH, ASIC cooling solutions. Designing mechanical retention mechanisms for heat sink, temperature margining tool assembly, chassis, etc. Create detailed mechanical models within 3D CAD software. Performing structural analysis of the mechanical designs. Create detailed mechanical drawings of heat sinks, retention mechanisms, temperature margining tool assemblies, printed circuit boards, for prototyping and manufacturing. Validate the mechanical designs with mechanical fit check. Convert ECAD models to MCAD models. Create documentation for assembly instruction. This is an estimated 6-12 month Contingent/Temporary position in Santa Clara CA and offered through Volt Technical Resources which is located in Scottsdale, AZ. Requirements: Mechanical Engineer Qualifications: Pro/E competency with minimum 5 years experience and experience of Pro/E Wildfire 4.0 / 5.0. Proficient in Finite Element Analysis using Abaqus or Ansys. In-depth knowledge of Mechanical Design of PCBs, Electronics Air Cooling and Liquid Cooling Systems, as well as the heat sink retention mechanisms. Experience with Sheet Metal, CNC Machining, Extrusion and Lathing Manufacturing processes. Education: Master's of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Thermal/Fluid Sciences. Bonus Skills: Experience and knowledge of Pro/E modules (Pro/Sheet Metal, Pro/Cabling, Pro/Mechanica, etc.) Strong practical knowledge of Mechanical Systems. Proficient in Allegro.
