Mechanical Design Engineer
Sitec are currently looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer for a nuclear MoD establishment based in Reading. The position is for an estimated 12 month contract and is paying circa �43 on an hourly basis. Mechanical Design Engineer Location - Reading Rate - �43ph Successful applicants will be required to be Security Cleared prior to appointment. Job/Role Purpose Undertaking Mechanical design tasks in support of projects of various sizes within the Plasma Physics Department (PPD). Working in a multi-disciplined team to deliver equipment/systems. Support others in the role of a specialist in 'Mechanical Design'. Key Accountabilities Job/Role executed in accordance with Client and PPD processes Providing input to work planning including cost and work content. Working to agreed programmes. Ensuring that all work is compliant with the Client's Environment, Health and Safety, Security, and Quality Standards Key Responsibilities Identifying and managing resources required to undertake given tasks. Developing designs that meet given specified requirements. Managing the design processes associated with given tasks and accountabilities Reporting progress Working to design interfaces. Contributing to task related information and documentation (paper and electronic). Qualifications HNC in Mechanical Engineering as a minimum (or equivalent), a Degree or HND Mechanical Engineering - preferred Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent work based experience. Knowledge Knowledge of the following topics and an in depth knowledge of a few. Processes: * Requirements capture/management * Interface management * CAE / Modelling * Cost Control * Planning * Design / Review * Drafting to BS8888 * Verification / Validation * Manufacture, Assembly and Test * Contracting * Availability, reliability and maintainability * Process development / definition * Installation * Handling Technologies: * Precision Devices * Automation * Vacuum * Electro / Opto / Mechanical * Clean-room * Jig and Tool * Mechanical Science * Properties of Materials * Kinematic Principles * Manufacturing Technology Tools: * MS Office * CAE * FMEA Experience Previous Roles: * Work in a similar design/development role. * Integrating optics within electro/mechanical assemblies. * Producing detail designs for manufacture. Experience of several of the following topics and a significant experience of a few. Use of 'Uni-Graphics' CAD desirable. Effective use of Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Project, Power Point and Outlook). Behaviours Recognition responsibility for personal safely and that of others. Willingness to undertake work in compliance with local procedures and standards.
