An exciting opportunity for a Java Developer to join a rapidly expanding team, on an intial 6 month contract with a view of going permanent. Role: Responsible for the development and maintenance of a number of software solutions developed by both UK and European based software development teams. The main solution is a Java based middleware solution used to mobilise users (within the warehouse or within the retail back of store) using voice technology. Other software requirements will be required including additional custom applications. Solutions normally make use of mobile computers (either voice or screen based) with supporting PC based applications. The role is based from the Maidenhead office, with some UK and European travel required. The Java Developer will be expected to deliver software using Java based technologies on to a variety of operating systems (e.g. Red Hat Linux and Wintel). Prior experience of database technologies (a combination of Oracle, SQL Server and / or MySQL is of interest) is desirable. Key skills: - Integration experience with enterprise applications / other subsystems is desired - Experience in developing standalone / web applications (using toolkits such as Tapestry) - JDBC and persistence frameworks (e.g. Hibernate) - Commercial J2EE application / web server experience is a bonus (e.g. JBOSS, WebSphere CE, Tomcat) This is an exciting oppotunity to work with a market-leading company, working on the latest Java technologies.
