Senior Web Developer Auburn Hills, MI Description: Title: Technical Lead, Portal Replacement Purpose of Role/Organizational Unit: Coordinates the activities of Portal Replacement technical staff and ensures tasks are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters. Works with the AMS Team Lead and Portal Replacement Project Manager to ensure that project goals are accomplished and in line with business objectives. The individual will be responsible to ensure that coding packages are delivered on schedule and meet customer expectations while adhering to internal standards and strategies. Regularly contributes to project status reports to demonstrate project progress, risks, and issues. Functions Performed: The following functions are the responsibility of the Portal Replacement Technical Lead. Ultimately, responsibility for ensuring that the new environment functions as designed and operates with a high level of efficiency. Position Responsibilities Must have previous experience setting up and maintaining LifeRay environments Updates the clients Program Manager on cost, schedule, performance, and risk parameters. • Coordinates all aspects of systems analysis, design, development, installation, maintenance, and enhancement for mission-critical application systems for an assigned unit / area / or project • Works with clients Program Manager to identify project resource needs and execute the sourcing of these resources or specialized support necessary for cost-effective implementation and customer training • Provides positive and effective direction to project team members, and integrates activities with other business and IT departments to ensure successful implementation and support of project efforts • Ensures that application systems are developed in a way that complies with architectural standards and established methodologies and practices • Anticipates and escalates issues inhibiting the attainment of project goals; recommends corrective actions to the clients Program Manager as necessary • Facilitates a positive team environment • Reviews project deliverables for compliance with client standards and ensures that all PMO documentation requirements are met. Skills Required: Must have previous experience setting up and maintaining LifeRay environments • Candidate should have experience in multiple portal technologies, specifically Liferay and WebSphere. • Candidate must be an expert in Java development, with specific experience in building portlets for Liferay. • Candidate should have experience in the implementation and configuration of Google Search Appliance • Candidate should have experience in managing the day to day activities of a technical development team, ensuring schedules and task deadlines are met, and issues that jeopardize delivery deadlines are appropriately escalated. • Experience with portals in the automotive industries is a plus, but not required. • Candidate must be comfortable managing a team of resources that will be in multiple locations. • Candidate must have experience in interpreting from business teams and project stakeholders. • Candidate must have the ability to translate and communicate conceptual requirements into a solution that addresses those requirements. • Candidate must be comfortable presenting advanced technical concepts to senior executives clearly and effectively. • Candidate must be familiar with technical support during various testing cycles and have the ability to effectively track bugs, issues, and enhancement requests using industry standard tools like JIRA.
