Description We are currently seeking a Systems Programmer to work on-site in Irving, Texas for our direct client. Enterprise Infrastructure Mainframe Hosting provides world class mainframe availability and customer service to the business units. With two geographically dispersed data centers and mainframe teams, they provide uninterrupted computing services and disaster recovery capabilities. This is a mature large multi-sysplex, multi-site mainframe configuration consisting of 53 DB2 subsystems and 146 data sharing members. This also includes support for high availability replication software and various database utility products and tools. This position will be responsible for DB2 z/OS infrastructure support. The candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining DB2 z/OS systems software and the associated third party products for multiple DB2 data sharing groups. The applicant should have experience with the following: DB2 z/OS data sharing, DB2 utilities, distributed connectivity to DB2 on z/OS, InfoSphere Replication Server (QREP), CA - Database Tools and CA-Insight. Experience with DB2 z/OS recovery in a disk mirroring environment would be a plus. Applicants must have a solid understanding of the products and tools used to manage DB2 on z/OS, including but not limited to the following: TSO/ISPF, SMP/E, IBMLink, SDSF, CA-Sysview, REXX, SAS and RMF. This individual will be responsible for working with IBM and different Independent Software Vendors to determine root cause of service interruptions triggered by potential software defects. Project management experience, solid communication skills and the ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently are desirable. Primary Responsibilities: Participate in the installation and maintenance of mission critical DB2 for z/OS software Apply technologies, methods, and concepts to maximize functional/operational capabilities and meet business requirements Develop moderately complex automation processes Ensure effective use of technology vendors and internal technology business partners Stay abreast of technology innovations and recommend applicability to the business Perform diagnosis and resolution of operational issues of moderate complexity using group-specific tools and processes Work with vendor organizations on problem management and resolution Provides 24/7 on-call support Identify and documents infrastructure requirements of moderate complexity from internal customer groups Evaluate new products to meet specific needs within the organization Qualifications Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (or related field) and a minimum of 5 years of experience in job offered Skills and Knowledge: Experience with DB2 on z/OS in a multiple member data sharing environment Experience with using SMP/E to apply software maintenance Experience with DB2 utilities and common DBA job functions Experience with distributed connectivity to DB2 on z/OS Experience with InfoSphere Replication Server (QREP) Experience with the implementation of Guardium Database Activity Monitor Basic programming skills using either REXX or SAS
