Overview: An International market leading Military and Defence Manufacturing Company currently have an excellent opportunity for a Manufacturing Subcontracts Manager to work a 9-12 contract based in the Gloucestershire area. The Company: Established in the 1980’s this organisation has experienced exceptional growth to become one of the largest market leading Defence companies in the world. Having recently landed some extremely prestigious and very lucrative contracts, they are looking to recruit talented individuals to help deliver bespoke electronic products for the clients’ specifications. The Role of a Manufacturing Subcontracts Manager: Manage electronic and electro-mechanical manufacturing subcontract activities, to include negotiation, implementation and monitoring of performance against defined targets. To support the Procurement Manager in the development and implementation of best procurement/business practices. • Assess Make v Buy and provide pay-back justification for subcontract of new and existing electronic and electro-mechanical subcontract opportunities. • To design, manage and develop effective / agile supply chain solutions. • Support the Procurement Manager in the development and mentoring of the Procurement team. • Lead subcontract supplier research, audits, selection and development in close liaison with the SQA department. • Manage the free-issue/sale of materials and loan of test equipment, jigs, fixtures and tooling as required by subcontracts. • Effective BRM / QBR process management for all key and/or strategic subcontract suppliers. • Analyse, report and manage excess material liabilities and ensure minimum business exposure at all times. • Manage and control all subcontracts documentation, data, files and reports in a timely and accurate manner. • Support implementation of Lean supply chain principles such as JIT, Kan-Ban, VMI, DLF etc. in line with the company’s overall manufacturing strategy. Key Skills: Full UK driving licence, Happy to do occasional international travel, experience of managing outsourced electronic circuit card assemblies at contract manufacturers (CEM's). Experience of transferring business into a CEM and hands on programme management with responsibility for price, delivery, quality, KPI performance. MCIPS qualified (Master Chartered Institute Purchasing and Supply) Pay Rate: up to 45,000 DOE Commutable from: Gloucestershire, Tewkesbury, Hereford, Swindon, Worcester.
