Certified Red Hat Linux Engineer
Our client is seeking a Red Hat Linux Engineer. Role and Responsibilities: * Coordinates with client management to formulate highly complex technical solutions. Identifies and implements solutions based on client needs. Informs client management of appropriate developments in technical support products * Provides technical leadership to internal and external personnel on highly complex system installation processes. Mentors and provides guidance to less experienced personnel * Provides technical leadership to appropriate personnel on highly complex system administration activities. Provides technical solutions and escalated support for non-routine, highly complex technical issues * Evaluates products and upgrades for appropriateness of cost and compatibility. Oversees and implements system upgrade strategies * Leads the design, implementation, and maintenance of highly complex solutions. Coordinates activities with other technical personnel as appropriate * Develops and analyzes highly complex system standards, thresholds, and recommendations to maximize system performance. Initiates reviews as appropriate * Conducts capacity planning reviews with management and approves capacity plans formulated by less experienced personnel * Develops strategies to manage the frequency of appropriate support package/patch application. Monitors database maintenance and provides appropriate recommendations, when required. Implements solutions and refines procedures as appropriate * Coordinates with business development personnel on proposals and work estimates involving highly complex system administration projects and solutions * Researches current systems technology and serves as subject matter expert on complex systems processes and procedures. Conducts usability and costing studies Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States of America. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Educational Requirements: * Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university with five years of related experience * Equivalents: High School diploma with nine years of specialized experience in related field, or Associates Degree with seven years of experience, or Masters Degree with three years experience, or Doctorate Degree with one year experience Required Skills: * Redhat Certification a must - RHCT * Subject Matter Expert with Redhat, SUSE * Programming /scripting skills a must Subject Matter Expert Knowledge in the following areas: * Use standard command line tools (e.g., ls, cp, mv, rm, tail, cat, etc.) to create, remove, view, and investigate files and directories * Use grep, sed, and awk to process text streams and files * Use a terminal-based text editor, such as vim or nano, to modify text files * Use input/output redirection * Understand basic principles of TCP/IP networking, including IP addresses, netmasks, and gateways for IPv4 and IPv6 * Use su to switch user accounts * Use passwd to set passwords * Use tar, gzip, and bzip2 * Configure an email client on Red Hat Enterprise Linux * Use text and/or graphical browser to access HTTP/HTTPS URLs * Boot systems into different run levels for troubleshooting and system maintenance * Diagnose and correct misconfigured networking * Diagnose and correct hostname resolution problems * Configure the X Window System and a desktop environment * Add new partitions, filesystems, and swap to existing systems * Use standard command-line tools to analyze problems and configure system * Perform network OS installation * Implement a custom partitioning scheme * Configure the scheduling of tasks using cron and at
