Install Linux print server and configure printers and clients - Linux Windows
We need to install a print server service on a Linux server in order to provide printing services at our office. The goal is to avoid manually configuring each printer at each desktop client, and providing usage reports. Printers must be set up, and every desktop system at the office must be configured to print through the print server, instead of going directly to the printers. Provider will have to: - Set up print server service on a CentOS 5.x / x86_64 host - Configure 2 Epson printers w/ethernet interface to communicate with the print server. Printers have static IP addresses. - Configure 1 HP print w/ethernet interface to communicate with the print server. Printer has a static IP address. - Configure 15 Windows (XP, Vista, 2003 and 7) desktop systems to print through the print server. - Configure 2 Mac OS X systems to print through the print server - Provide documentation on: a) How to add/remove printers on the print server b) How to set up Windows and Mac systems to use the print server c) What packages were installed on the Linux server, what configuration files were edited and what ports does the print server service use. Optional: - Provide a way to generate reports on usage by user. I.e, pages printed per user per month. Each user at the office has a static IP address, so a report on usage by IP address is also acceptable. - Ability to filter printing at certain printers by IP subnet. I.e, printer A can only be used from 192.168.0.0/25. - Configure on the print server 2 USB printers which are connected to Windows desktops, so that they can be used from any desktop in the office Software used must be open source and preferably provided on the CentOS distribution.
