Weight and Research Dock Inspector
Inspect freight to determine commodity based on National Motor Freight Classification descriptions. Identify proper NMFC item number, sub and class. Verify that the appropriate NMFC item number and class are on the shippers Bill of Lading (BOL) contract. Issue billing corrections based on inspections completed and customer contract. Audit, correct, and resolve BOL errors and notify appropriate parties of changes. Produce electronic Freight Inspection Reports giving details regarding shipment dimensions, cubes, densities and proper NMFC descriptions. Produce weekly summary of workload, issues, and other activities in EXCEL spreadsheets and Lotus Notes databases. Maintain knowledge and ability to serve as a resource to local service center for NMFC classifications, packaging, and how products are sold at market and ensure all laws, regulations, and company standards are consistently upheld. EDUCATION: College degree in Transportation or Engineering preferred. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years of experience: or equivalent combination of experience and education. Hours: 5:00pm to 12:00pm Person must be self motivated and require minimal supervision. Majority of work is in a warehouse/freight service center dock. Employee is out of the weather but subject to the ambient temperature since building is not climate controlled. Must be able to be flexible to work when the business needs exist.
