Onward Technologies has an immediate opening for a Sr. Windows Integration/Scalability Engineer for a 6 month contract to hire position with our direct client in the Denver, Colorado area. The Sr. Windows Integration/Scalability Engineer will be working on the client's highly visible and mission critical ASP.Net site. The environment consists of over a dozen load balanced WS 2008 R2 IIS 7.5 web servers running ASP.NET 4.0 clustered windows file servers, NetApp file servers, distributed memory caching servers and SQL Server 2008 databases. This enviroment features complex transactions from many hundreds of thousands unique users on a daily basis. Responsibilities: •Extremely scientific mindset for establishing baselines, performing experiments, and effectively analyzing results and translating them to actionable recommendations. •Effective, safe, and rapid troubleshooting and root cause analysis across .NET, IIS, windows, and networking across complex, multi-server integrated environments •Deep insight in Windows event log, ETW and perfmom data collection, analysis, and evaluation for error and performance bottleneck root cause including IIS specific counters •Continue to improve data collection, analysis, triage, and operations procedures to increase their effectiveness, reduce response time, and increase proactive early identification of issues •Maintain site uptime and performance •Participate in change, maintenance, and deployment plan creation and review. •Participate in cross-training activities with other IIS, windows, and networking team members Qualifications: •Strong background in Windows engineering of file services, clustering, networking, and storage •Experience with network monitor tools and analysis a big plus •Experience with WinDbg and memory dump analysis a plus •HTTP protocol expertise a plus •The ideal candidate will be both creative and analytical. •Experience with IIS web log parsing and analysis (Microsoft LogParser or similar analysis) a plus •Scripting experience with batch files, VBScript, or PowerShell a plus •Ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks and be held accountable for the delivery of quality results •Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality •Able to work well under pressure and deliver effectively in a demanding environment •Strong written and oral communication, organization, and documentation skills Education/Experience: •5+ years Windows Server 2003+ experience •2+ years Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2 experience •Strong knowledge analyzing and tuning windows servers running IIS 6+ running ASP.Net 2+ •Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and Windows performance tuning settings
