IT Engineer - Computer Support
This role will be responsible for the deployment and maintenance of equipment required for training delivery, as well as providing technical support to internal and external customers related to the use of training technology and systems. The manager is seeking a candidate that not only has a solid technical background but has worked in a leadership or jr. project manager role. The candidate needs to have the ability to evaluate the current technical environment and make recommendations to all levels within the organization regarding size, scope and cost of upgrades and improvements. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Define, deploy and support world-wide training development and delivery infrastructure Deploy and provide ongoing support for training course development environments Coordinate and/or execute training environment refreshes in prep for upcoming courses Confirm required training technology is functional and accessible in prep for each training course Provide/coordinate technical support to resolve issues with use of training delivery environments Configure and ship required equipment to training sites as necessary Deploy and support equipment in training facilities and labs Drive technical evaluation of vendor or customer provided training facilities as required Provide/coordinate technical support to resolve issues related to customer, partner or internal back-office systems Maintain and track inventory of required internal training equipment Define and track budget for training technology needs Required Skills 5+ years of experience in the Information Technology field Self-starter and ability to work independently Ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written form at all levels of an organization Experience with Symantec Ghost as well as VMware ESX and Workstation software 2+ years of experience with Windows 2003, 2008 server and Windows 7 installation/administration Working knowledge of Red Hat Linux Server ver. 4 and 5, Centos and SuSE Linux Server ver. 10 or higher Networking experience with TCP/IP network protocol; understanding of NAT, DHCP, setting up static IPs, and configuring DNS etc. CompTIA A+, Network+ and/or MCP certification desired IT Security knowledge a plus Required Education Bachelors Degree (preferably in a technical discipline)
