Sr. Mainframe Programmer(Audit Project/No Coding)
12+ month contract role for an experienced Sr. Mainframe Programmer with some Architecture background. Project: The project will likely be targeted around the design of Company's State Reporting, APH, or MVR processing. This individual would be focused primarily on the mainframe technology platform. Required Skills: Mainframe technnologies such as COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, MQ, Serena ChangeMan and tableBASE. Some client/server experience and familiarity with Software Test Engineering practices is a plus. Role: The Control & Analysis IT Audit group is seeking a lead to consultant level programmer resource to serve as a consultant on our technical application audits. The individual will work with an IT auditor to outline the audit plan, analyze systems (app. code, stored procs, web services, DB design, etc.), and communicate findings to drive more control and better quality into our systems. This individual will work closely with technical resources from the platform sponsoring the audit but should be able to operate autonomously once acclimated to the systems. The role does not involve changing code or design, but consulting on areas where the system is not meeting control objectives which might result in operational problems or inefficiencies. (familiarity with STE concepts and practices.) Strong lead-level application programmers should also be considered. Contractor Activities: • Access and read code enabling the specific business processes/applications under review • Document the logical data flow of process including, where applicable, programs, jobs, files, reports, interface points and controls • Discuss documentation and learning’s with IT Auditor • When applicable, write test tools or data extracts to validate the processing and control points • Identify code/practice inconsistencies within the program code, between code in related programs/applications, versus best practice, versus Enterprise Architecture gold standards. Contractor requirements: • Proven ability to think and communicate in ‘process’ terms • Proven ability to communicate regarding technical concepts (with programmers) • Proven ability to communicate complex concepts in simple terms (to auditors) • Proficient at reading and interpreting mainframe COBOL application code (see required skills) • Mainframe relational database skills (see required skills) Keywords: Application Architecture
