Piping Spec / Materials Engineer
Plans, coordinates or prepares specifications, technical bid evaluations and award recommendations for piping components and valves. • Familiar with all industry piping codes & standards (eg: ASME B31.3, B16.5, B16.34, B31.1, API 600, API 602, etc) • Able to coordinate inter-discipline input to support project deliverables • Basic understanding of various materials for determining mechanical strength, corrosion resistance and interface with metallurgy • Has knowledge of automated material control programs and their integration with 3D CAD systems. • Prepares letters to vendors and clients. • Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs and staffing requirements for proposals, forecasts and change orders. • Reviews and checks work of subordinate engineers. • Supports the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction. • Reviews and prepares client/project line classes to meet all pertinent industry code compliance • Prepares engineering calculations (eg: wall thickness, flange, blind, vacuum) and has input into LDT fields Basic Qualifications: • A recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline from an accredited college or university, OR • A professional license in an appropriate engineering discipline from a recognized licensing board, OR • Sufficient number of specialized courses in relevant general engineering or appropriate engineering disciplines to meet job requirements, AND • Practical work experience in design engineering or relevant equivalent experience in allied types of engineering sufficient to demonstrate competence as a trained engineer.
