Data Center LAN Architect Orlando, FL Data Center LAN Architect - CCIE Position Overview Extropy is currently recruiting a Data Center LAN Architect with extensive background in large enterprise networks for our Fortune 100 customer in Orlando, FL for a 6-12 month Contract-to-Hire position. The right individuals will demonstrate the ability to lead and deliver complex IT projects and act in a trusted advisor capacity with clients. Qualified candidates will be made offers for direct employment with client after 6 months. Architects are responsible for developing Enterprise wide network strategy, architecture and standards encompassing a wide range of transport topologies, advanced networking services and network protocols. The Architect represents Telecom from a technology perspective and collaborates with client services, IT security, Data Center, IT facilities, voice services and application architecture teams across all phases of the infrastructure lifecycle. Architects are responsible for developing Enterprise wide telecommunications strategy, architecture and standards encompassing a wide range of transport topologies, advanced networking services and network protocols. The Architect represents Telecom from a technology perspective and collaborates with client services, IT security, Data Center hosting, IT facilities, voice services and application architecture teams across all phases of the infrastructure lifecycle. Key responsibilities of this position include development of a Data Center network technology design plans and the development of reference architectures and standards. The position is responsible for understanding and interpreting global business and technical requirements in order to apply advanced next generation data center technologies for global consumption. This includes participation in discovery, documentation, validation / refinement of forward-looking solutions (ex. Cloud Computing networks and next-gen technology center strategy) while considering opportunities for re-use of standard solutions and technologies Responsibilities Develops and communicates the overall Data Center infrastructure strategy, design, future plans, and key performance metrics. Researches and recommends telecommunications technologies & products, develops strategies for products that can be integrated within the enterprise network infrastructure repeatedly and consistently. Consults with other service towers on available network solutions and advanced service product options available to meet their business requirements. Designs customized solutions as required to support Business objectives. Develops RFP’s based on requirements, sets up vendor conferences, evaluates bids and recommends the selected network services or products to the appropriate management entity. Meets with vendors to discuss product offerings, addresses technical issues/deficiencies and influences new products and services to meet growing and changing requirements. Interfaces with senior management for presentations and high priority / high visibility projects Develops networking architectures, standards and designs for key enterprise telecom systems. This includes networking hardware/software, protocol, transport, signaling and topology standards. This role also conveys product information and integration strategies to the internal telecom teams and Disney’s telecom suppliers. Maintains knowledge of emerging trends in the industry through participation in user groups, and disciplined monitoring of periodicals, research groups (ex. Gartner, Forester, Burton) Collaborates with peers during standards / product development. Leads enterprise-wide related telecommunication projects, including research and recommendation of new technologies. Manages the delivery of key global network projects that are executed by telecom suppliers. Provides guidance to other staff members on medium-to-large scale network related projects including preparation of budgetary input for network hardware, software and services. Communicates project design requirements to telecom suppliers. Required Skills 10 years in an enterprise environment that operates 7x24 services to a multitude of customers and business units. Certifications: Cisco CCIE, Juniper NCIP-Enterprise, Sniffer Certified Expert/Master (SCE/SCM), ITIL, PMBOK Demonstrated experience with Enterprise Data Center Architectures (Zone head end/end of row, top of rack, cluster designs, etc…) Experience with physical and logical networking/compute/storage technologies (ex. Juniper/Arista/Cisco/HP/IBM/Isilon) including networking solutions for server application performance and availability. Strong understanding of virtualized environments in several areas (compute, storage, network) including experience with orchestration layer implementations the include network provisioning operations Experience in data center facilities design (Hot/Cold air containment/airflow designs, cabling standards, cabinet designs, power distribution design and power capacity planning/calculation, raised floor and slab facilities designs, etc…) Demonstrated knowledge/experience in multi-tiered data center networking with expert knowledge and experience in technology integration and network design. Extensive knowledge and understanding of technologies/architectures including: DWDM, 10Gig media standards (optical and electrical), MPLS, TCP/IP protocol suite, Ethernet 1Gig/10Gig and emerging 40Gig/100Gig) Experience with designing Data Center networks that support security compliance and segmentation strategies for PCI/SOX, Data center L2/L3 mobility TRILL/MEC/VPC/OTV, high density computing, QoS and IP Multicast. Demonstrated technical knowledge of UNIX, VMWARE, XEN, application analysis (detailed packet capture analysis), network design, network management systems and troubleshooting techniques. 4-year degree in Mathematics, Decision Systems, Computer Science, Business Highly Desirable Skills Masters degree in Mathematics, Decision Systems, Computer Science, Business 15 years in an enterprise environment that operates 7x24 services to a multitude of customers and business units. Media and ISP industry experience preferred.
