I'm looking for a Sound Designer to collaborate with on a series of impressionistic shorts. Someone who believes Sound is as equally vital a narrative device as Word or Image and wants to help create a surreal, enveloping vibe with their skill set. This is a lo-fi, no-budget series of 6 short films a la Eric Rohmer's Six Moral Tales. Think of it in terms of an aesthetic mix of contemporary 1st-person genre movies like Rec, Chronicle, Project X and more formalized restraint like Antonioni. I'm a huge admirer of Terrence Malick and Lucrecia Martel, as well as Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and want the sound to accentuate an element of, at times, ethereal, heightened reality and at other times, a disorientation of it. The ambiance will not always be correlative or circumstantial to the events unfolding onscreen. It's a modest project with the potential of becoming a marketable niche piece. Meaning if we hit it off, I can cover gas, food and small expenses for you, but it's a sincere piece of work and I'm doing it on a shoestring level.
