Automotive experience a big plus Summary: Managing multiple projects and the relationships with global suppliers. Identify and implement purchasing initiatives to achieve business and team goals based on costs, quality, and delivery. Responsible for all domestic and international sourcing activities for assigned products or components. Developing programs with existing and new sources, optimizing competitive pricing, on time delivery and superior quality, while ensuring supply chain support. Supporting team activities for new product introductions, cost reduction initiatives and product exit plan projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this position. The incumbent will perform other job-related duties as assigned. Project management of multiple (continuous) supplier updates, agreements, and other communications including step by step details. Suppliers are primarily based in Asia and will require time changes. Facilitate clear and timely written or verbal communication, advising team and management of critical issues and what solutions have been executed to resolve. Establish a competitive environment through the quotation process. This requires proper communication of specifications, critical requirements and volumes, netting a proper cost analysis and sourcing decision. Recommend category strategies that provide vision for the future, enhancing the company’s position of price, quality, on time delivery, capacity, and lead-time in line with stated initiative and company goals. Establish programs that monitor and improve Vendor Performance for On Time delivery and Quality. Maintain all purchasing data in the system, generating a proper audit trail, as corporate guidelines and good business practice would dictate. Responsible for the negotiations with the vendor base, maximizing Purchase price Variance and Cost reduction opportunities. Ensuring that a combination of the best price, on time delivery, quality, capacity and vendor support is maintained. Participation as a proactive team member, actively working toward successful implementation and completion of team goals and objectives. Develop and prepare reports of progress and analysis of projects as required. Develop time-lines and manage the qualification process for each sourced item, communicating and working with both the vendor, engineering product management, and purchasing to execute issue resolution clearly and completely. Prepare contracts or letter of agreements for programs with vendors in compliance with company requirements. Negotiate and facilitate the settlement of vendor rejections, obtaining a corrective action plans from the Vendor and ensuring that the problem is resolved through-out the supply chain, (present, in transit and future). Review and evaluate vendor’s capabilities, including capacity, financial strengths, plant holidays, lead-times, minimums, multiples, stocking programs and develop and deploy constant enhancement initiatives for improvements. Buyers must have complete understanding of MRP and ERP planning tools. These tools are critical in buying/purchasing decisions. Assist in the development and implementation of departmental policies and deployment of proper and ethical business practice. Assist in the training and development of other team members. Education and/or Experience: B.A. from four year college or university; and/or three to five years related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPM Certification or any relative training courses of study in this area a plus. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, specifications and test requirements. Capability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Any other spoken language is a plus. Travel and Overtime: This position will from time to time require some travel, not to exceed more than three weeks at a time. It will also require periodic overtime, determined by project deadlines.
