Oracle DBA
Our client is in need for a Secret Clearance Oracle DBA or an Oracle DBA that can obtain one. This person will be working on an Army base at Fort Knox. Job Purpose: To design, create, and maintain computerized databases. Responsible for the quality control and auditing of databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data. Works with management to develop database strategies to support organization requirements. Consults with and advises users on access to various databases. Works directly with users to resolve data conflicts and inappropriate data usage. Directs the maintenance and use of the corporate data dictionary. Duties: - Plan, design, and handle database and backup/recovery activities for 30 plus databases using various backup methodologies to include: hot backup, cold backup, RMAN, export/import, data pump, Netapp snapshot, snap driver, and flex clone. - Implement disaster recovery plan to support four major production databases and participate in exercises bi-annually. - Tune small to large scale database and tune long running SQLs utilizing tools such as statpack, OEM, explain plan, system/session/sql trace. - Work with large table partition partitions storing soldier documents in types such as blob and clob. - Write PL/SQL, SQL and UNIX scripts to handle transactions and tables, loading/extraction, transferring data through SFTP and SSL, and automating system monitoring and alerts. - Conduct database backup and restoration - Manage database space, capacity planning, and performance tuning function - Perform consistency checks, archiving, develop/maintain indexing and retrieval functionality; resolve replication issues and manage database sizing/space management functions - Monitor database software to verify support of any applicable service levels - Coordinate database software upgrades with the use of related systems software, applications software, toolsets and network operating systems to verify appropriate compatibility, integration, and cross-functional usage - Perform partition maintenance and file system cleanups - Install upgrades and patches; manage user accounts Additional Job Info: - Perform data conversions, data loads, schema analyses, index rebuilds, database migrations, and other functions related to database administration - Diagnose database performance issues and performance tuning - Document systems in accordance with established Army HRC practices - Manage technology transfer for database administration - Perform data transformation services, in particular transforming data in CA-DATACOM databases to Oracle to IBM DB2 in anticipation of DIMHRS or a DIMHRS alternative - Assist UNIX Systems/Server administration team with maintaining system services and troubleshooting/resolving system and/or storage problems Minimum Qualifications: - Possess a SECRET clearance or have the ability to get one. Must have an interim SECRET to begin work on the contract. - Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience. (Experience must be sufficient to demonstrate knowledge of responsibilities defined in the job description) - Industry Recognized certification as an IAT Tech Level II (GSEC, SCNP, SSCP or Security +) or have the ability to receive one of these DoD approved baseline certifications within six months of start date. Must sign privileged level access agreement. - Experience with various platforms to include Windows 2000, AIX, Redhat LINUX, etc... Experience with Oracle database management and backup methodologies/strategies, Oracle Enterprise Management Grid Control (OEM), Recovery Manager (RMAN), PL/SQL, SQL, Unix scripts, SFTP, SSL, Symantec Antivirus, Remedy, VMWare, and Network Appliance or EMC storage experience preferred.
