Immediate contract opportunity for Linux System Administrator with Exclusive Direct Client in Queens, NY. Description: The primary role is to administer clients Linux servers currently hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) as well as the suite of project tools installed on these same servers (Atlassian Confluence, Jira and Crowd, and Alfresco). The person will be also responsible for providing first level user support to our end-users on the project tools and on any networking/Windows technical issue. This position will provide also the opportunity to get involved in the configuration and customization of the project tools, with specific focus on Atlassian Jira. Responsibilities 1. System Administration of five cloud-based Linux servers and two Windows servers. 2. Administration and maintenance of the Umoja Project Tools (Atlassian Confluence, Jira and Crowd, and Alfresco). 3. Technical Focal Point for Umoja project staff, including first level user support of the Umoja Project Tools. Skills 1. Proven System Administration experience including installation, monitoring and upgrading of Linux servers. 2. Working knowledge of Linux, Web and Database server security and backup/restore procedures. 3. Experience in installing and maintaining Apache Tomcat, Nginx, and PostgreSQL. 4. Networking and connectivity troubleshooting and light application support including software installation in a Microsoft Windows environment. 5. Experience in providing user support and issue tracking using tools such as Atlassian Jira. 6. Experience in Amazon Web Services (EC2) is desirable. 7. Experience in installing and maintaining Alfresco and Atlassian Confluence, Jira and Crowd is a plus. 8. Knowledge of shell scripting, SQL, and programming languages such as Ruby or Java is a plus.
