Interim Internal Communications Manager
Overall Role Purpose This role is key in driving the firm-wide communication strategy and plan. The role holder will provide guidance to senior stakeholders and support the delivery of their business objectives and improve employee engagement and commercial output through effective implementation of communication strategy Main responsibilities Markets • uses internal communications to promote the firm's strategy positively to all staff • ensures support for each of the four areas of the strategy and the sector approach to work-getting. Clients • develops a deep commercial understanding of assigned internal clients' businesses and supports the IC team in the design of appropriate and effective communication initiatives for driving real changes in their businesses • develops value-added features for the employee magazine • offers advice on the internal communications approach and creative execution to board members and other key stakeholders on an ad hoc basis • owns and manages specific 'national' projects • brings new ideas, creativity and support to other team members. People • coordination of quarterly internal magazine • support for service line and other newsletters • supporting People and Skills function on annual flexible benefits enrolment • coordinate board office visits to give people a voice with top leadership • project owner for other specific projects and/or events, as agreed periodically with team and line manager • identifies and advocates activities that promote behaviours in line with our CLEARR values and that positively drive our strategy. Operations • inputs to and helps drive the firm-wide communication strategy and plan • manages various projects that support the delivery of the firm's business objectives through excellent communication strategy and planning (e.g. events, printed matter, campaigns, video and online media) • improves employee engagement and commercial output through effective implementation of communication strategy. Person Specification Generally, each member of the national communications team is expected to: • play an active role in the team and contribute to positive morale • work collaboratively across all areas within the team to maximise our contribution to the firm and to clients • act as a role model and provide constructive upward feedback to more senior colleagues • work in line with the firm's CLEARR values (i.e. collaboration, leadership, excellence, agility, respect and responsibility) • seek regular feedback and identify and act on learning and development needs in order to develop technical and personal skills. Educated to degree level or equivalent • Strong communication skills including excellent English, written and oral • Comfortable working in a fast moving and, at times, ambiguous environment • Experienced in use of a variety of measurement and feedback mechanisms and the analysis of the resultant data • Attention to detail and the ability to process large pieces information efficiently and accurately • Dealing with confidential information - integrity and discretion • Experience dealing with senior stakeholders in an advisory capacity, and in supporting the ideas and concerns of all staff members • Ability to foster relations throughout the business and equally happy dealing with people at all levels of seniority • Proficient in Microsoft Office • Experience of publishing intranet content and using content management applications • Knowledge of internal communications best practice • Experienced with the process of managing and editing a printed publication In the first instance please send your CV via email to the IC team on firstname.lastname@example.org quoting reference CJP1208-27 VMA Group is the global resourcing specialist for corporate communications and HR.
