Yoh has a contract-to-hire opportunity for a RPG / IBM iSeries Software Application Manager for one of our leading media clients in East Windsor, NJ. Job Responsibilities: - Manage a team of 3 software developers to enhance and maintain RPG / IBM iSeries core software platform. - Assist in planning and implementation of a strategic direction for the platform. - Provide mentoring and guidance to junior staff members. - Provide technical expertise to design, develop and maintain software components and products that support business applications. - Use tools, languages, coding standards and Best Practices to develop new product features and maintain product functionality and enhancements. - Responsible for platform design, functional, and user documentation. - Create and execute unit tests and address defects, working closely with Quality Assurance and other teams to ensure requirements are met. Job Qualifications: - Bachelors or Masters' degree in Computer Science. - Seven plus years of experience writing software using RPG on the IBM iSeries platform. - Seven plus years of experience designing, creating, and maintaining database applications on the IBM iSeries Platform. - Experience debugging and reverse engineering RPG programs. - Experience working in the retirement services industry is a must. - Experience in Java and ability to apply these principles to core design. - Hands-on experience with SQL required, including experience with stored procedures. - Knowledge of and ability to apply concepts such as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS). Cloud experience is preferred. - Ability to read and create UML diagrams. - Strong abilities in computer software concepts such as: architecture, data structures and algorithms. - Ability to apply object-oriented concepts and Best Practices. - Able to learn, adopt and use new technologies. - Working knowledge of commonly used design patterns. - Knowledge of the concept of test-driven process in development. Unit testing experience a must. Good de-bugging skills are preferred. - Strong troubleshooting and problem resolution skills. - Ability to deliver results with minimum supervision. - Excellent communication skills.
