Technical Author Location: Hampton Duration: 6 Months + Rate: £20-25 per hour Ltd Co. (Negotiable) Job Description Our client is a leading contractor within the water industry. Working within a Joint venture on Thames Water projects they are currently recruiting for a Technical Author to work on a contract basis in Hampton. The role requires an experienced Technical Author or Technical Writer with experience of mechanical and electrical engineering based products, who has worked in and gained knowledge from the water or sewage industry. Key Responsibilities To provide Operation and Maintenance Manual services to ensure that the correct level of information is provided at the start, during and at handover of construction for the safe operation of plants. Also to upload asset data onto the Thames Water database. Understand contract specific requirements for manuals Gather all internal documentation e.g. control philosophy, FDS, schedules, drawings etc for inclusion into the O&M manuals Gather suppliers' and subcontractors' information for incorporation into the O&M manuals Prepare graphics as required Prepare narrative and pictorial guide to operation of plants Prepare manuals and submit to Thames Water Attend meetings with Thames Water, subcontractors and suppliers as required Upload asset data to the Thames Water database Ensure timely submission of manuals Continuously improve standard of manuals to target zero defects from Thames Water Explore initiatives for new and more efficient means of producing manuals
